December 2009 Group News - Herbert Bell Shaw Lodge #842

Herbert Bell Shaw Lodge #842

The Herbert Bell Shaw Lodge #842 has helped out at MerleFest for the past nine years parking cars at Festival Check-in and working with site clean up. Nelson Martin, Worshipful Master for the lodge, comments that the group's volunteer services at MerleFest allows them to raise money for community efforts as well as creating a time of fellowship for the group.

During the Christmas season, the lodge members use some of their funds to help needy families in the Wilkes county area. They also contribute to the Central Children's Home in Oxford, NC. Other worthwhile projects that are made possible through the monies they earn at MerleFest include a scholarship for one student each year and a building fund for a lodge. The group currently meets at a local church.

The members of the Herbert Bell Shaw Lodge #842 are truly appreciated by MerleFest for their hard work during the festival and their good works in the community throughout the year.
