Will this service be available in 2022?
farmerterry21ParticipantMarch 3, 2022 at 12:17 pmPost count: 2I’m wondering the same thing.
KaylasdaddyParticipantMarch 3, 2022 at 12:39 pmPost count: 3When I asked last year, it simply was a matter of not having enough volunteers. The volunteers were needed for other, more important duties. That may still be the same situation. It is a hard job and requires a 6-10 person crew for the beginning and end of each day; tough times to get volunteers. I always check a wagon first thing on Thursday and make sure it is strapped down and covered. That way, not worries about rain or stuff falling out. I have my ticket so I can just drop it off for them. Perhaps someone with the Festival will chime in…
SuzycreamcheeseParticipantApril 6, 2022 at 1:54 pmPost count: 6So right now the official word is that there will be NO overnight storage. This needs to change immediately! Here’s what they can expect if they do not offer this service.
Fewer people will buy tickets for next year’s event, especially families with kids and folks over 60 who just simply are not able to lug their chairs and night-time clothing around the festival and on and off buses for 4 days.
Many folks have said that they would be willing to pay an additional amount for this service, so they can’t really use lack of money as an excuse. This was always run by volunteers and the expense was for the tent and trailer.SuzycreamcheeseParticipantApril 6, 2022 at 2:02 pmPost count: 6Also, you can imagine that coming through the main gate every day will take much longer as all that extra stuff will have to be inspected each of the 4 days.
Here’s my suggestion: if you have a reserved seat, pile all your stuff on or under your chair and cover it up with a big trash bag. I know they do not want you to do this. But if everyone did (in protest and for the sake of our backs) then what would they do? Pick it up? And take it where? Who are they going to get to do that? (Sorry volunteers,I know you all work extremely hard; I am hoping you’d just leave all that stuff where it is.)
KaylasdaddyParticipantApril 6, 2022 at 3:48 pmPost count: 3Here it is.
Good Luck all.‘The MerleFest Forum is made available as a public forum for our customers to interact with one another and it is not monitored by MerleFest customer service for questions. With that said, I’m glad that you emailed us today about your question! Unfortunately, due to increasing liability to store instruments and the effects COVID has had on the number of volunteers available we have had to discontinue overnight storage.
Thank you,
