I would love to see Larkin Poe (they’ve appeared at Merlefest before as the Lovell Sisters, one married and has left the band). They can and do play all kinds of music.

Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra. If imitation is the sincerest for of flattery, these Norwegians will charm with their tasteful renditions of Americana music. Rebekka Nilsson is the vocalist. Netflix series Lost Ollie features their version of “Dream”, the old Everly Brothers hit.

Just two of many superb, under-the-radar groups around these days!

    Other suggestions?

I second the Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra!!!\\

Also Cactus Blossoms. Reincarnation of the Everly Brothers! Just saw them at Cat’s Cradle. I don’t know why there not famous!?!

I’d also welcome a return of Ana Egge and the Sentimentals. She’s as much an inspiration as a musical talent. Great songwriter.

Lineup seems to be weak. No Marty Stuart or Tedeshi Trucks, Billy Strings, Marcus King, Sierra Hull, Molly Tuttle, Justin Moses, no top touring bluegrass acts, Hope there’s more coming. :(

Fingers crossed for the February announcement.
I doubt we’ll get Billy Strings, but he would be a fantastic headliner.
I’m hoping for any of the following: Bela Fleck & My Bluegrass Heart, John Hiatt, Shinyribs, Tyler Childers, Chris Stapleton, Nathaniel Ratliffe, Jason Carter, Molly Tuttle, Sierra Ferrell, 49 Winchester, Colter Wall, Town Mountain, Strung Like a Horse, the Highwomen, Railroad Earth, David Grisman, Lil Smokies, Henhouse Prowlers, Larry Keel, Songs From the Road Band, just to name a few.. lol

Seriously Merlefest officials, you absolutely must get Billy Strings! Especially since it’s Doc’s 100th birthday. Just look up on YouTube the multiple times he’s honored Doc’s music, and there’s nobody better except Doc himself. I know he’s not inexpensive since he’s now selling out arenas, but I’m sure he’d come for free if his handlers would let him. I know he wants to be at Merlefest this year, so please ask him!!! Just checked his tour schedule and he’s free the last weekend in April!

Billy Strings would be a huge get! Molly Tuttle too. Town Mountain is a great bluegrass band. They do lots of original songs. I’d pay extra just to hear the “Lawdog” song by them. Missed it because of a scheduling conflict last time they were at Merlefest. Sierra Ferrell is a hoot!

I agree! You can’t have Tyler Childers one year and no one of his caliber the following years. The Avett Brothers isn’t that caliber and shouldn’t be the only headliner. Is it really too late to get someone like Billy Strings, Morgan Wade, Tyler Childers, Warren Zeiders, etc, etc…. Please tell us you are still working on the lineup!
